The Milton Township Youth Committee was established in May of 2001. Under the state statues of Illinois Township government guidelines are established under which a Youth Committee may operate. We have chosen to detail a plan that includes the following principled guidelines:
• We will look for and support activities not already addressed by other programs available through school, government, or private organizations. Past events will not be accepted for concideration and only services not yet rendered will be considered.
• We will seek to provide goods and services to our youth that fill a unique or special need in that Child's life.
• Nearly 100% of our scholarship and evaluation monies will directly benefit each child served because volunteer services virtually eliminate the overhead and Township expenses most programs require. A professional data base, confidentiality, and total accountability are hallmarks of our Youth Committee
• These benefits are provided exclusively to Milton Township residents as established by a student’s school enrollment within our Township or a preschool Child's residence in the Township.
These guidelines are applied to children in the form of scholarship grants which cannot exceed $250.00 per application. Applications are available at the township during regular hours for qualifying children or we can fax, e-mail, or snail mail a form to one of our approved referral agents.
Qualifications include:
1. Must be under the age of 18 and a resident of the Township
2. Eligible families include those that access our food pantry, general assistance, emergency assistance, or are a juvenile probation referral.
3. Have a special need in their life for goods or services like lesson’s, activities, transportation, academics, attire, equipment, or unique interests or medical requirements.
Over 1000 applications were processed since inception. We can make the difference this year between children being left behind in areas of their life because the immediate needs exceed the resources of a family.
